Sha in East Village

While walking around the East Village on my birthday, I had to stop a young lady named Sha to capture her for my blog. I am very into the peplum trend lately and she wore a bright red colored top which she belted to give the "peplum" feel. She paired it with berry colored pants and an orange mini satchel for a chic and colorful afternoon look.

She's adorable! I love being inspired by style like hers while in NYC.

Birthday Night! Bday Post #2 of 2

Hello loves! I am sorry it has been so long since I've updated but after my birthday/memorial weekend it was straight back to work at my internship. Thus, I've been quite busy with that as well as trying to take my boyfriend sightseeing after work. Not to mention, I moved into a new apt which doesn't have WiFi so it's a struggle to find a spot in Starbucks or Burger King or any other nearby place with WiFi. Nevertheless, here are some pics from the night of my Bday including my wonderful gifts!

Gifts from my boyfriend and his parents...BCBG shoes from my bf and Armani bag from his parents..so chic!

My mini bday cake..strawberry cream cake from Black Hound NYC. The store was sold out of "2" candles (guess they are popular around this time) so I put 2 and 2 candles to represent 22 lol.

Birthday Bright! Bday Post #1

Happy Birthday to me! =) Today, May 27, is my birthday and it is the first time I've ever celebrated in NYC. Not only is it great to be able to celebrate in one of the fashion capitals of the world but it is all the better because my boyfriend is here to visit and spend the day with me. So we have been exploring the city today (it's his first time in NYC and the US in general), eating and drinking a little wine to start off my birthday.

When I woke up I had no idea what to wear but after a short Skype call with my sister Krissy of, The Fashion Journal of Krysta Nalis, she had consulted with me and helped me rummage through my suitcase to find a "birthday bright" outfit. And I must say I loved it! Here are some pics from earlier today...I'll be changing into a more night appropriate look for dinner and drinks tonight and will do a second post later featuring it. Thanks so much to my big sis for styling me today and making look all birthday ready for the big city!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day

Happy Friday, everyone! Boy, was I happily surprised today when I noticed that a lot of my blog views were coming from FashionBombDaily.com and then I realized why! I submitted images to them earlier this week for their Fashion Bombshell of the Day post and they picked me as their bombshell today! This definitely made my day (so far) cause I was having a hard day at my internship.

So far here are the poll results:

There have been some really nice compliments on the post, and some not quite as nice lol, but I appreciate all of the feedback nonetheless. It's always great to hear honest opinions about my style as I develop more and more, though at the end of the day it is mine and mine alone.

So what do you guys think? Make sure to check out the blog post here and vote! I'm off to pick up my boyfriend from the airport (and that is what will really make my day) =)

Vogue China Internship: Photo Shoot Day!

Yes! The photo shoot finally arrived. It was on Monday, the 21st at Columbia University's track (when is Howard going to get that privilege? We are #2 best dressed after all!). Despite dreadful, overcast skies and multiple spurts of heavy rain showers, we still started at 645 AM taking trunks and suitcases down to the van to be picked up and taken to the shoot....

Trunks and garment bags ready to go at 645 AM!
And when I say there were rain showers that day, I'm talking flooded curbs and raindrops that sound like marbles hitting the roof. I did not know how on earth they planned to protect state-of-the-art photography equipment, luxury looks and designer jewels (talking over $80,000 in jewelry alone) from the gusts of wind and rain but they did it as smoothly and professionally as would be expected from Vogue and a photographer like Mark Seliger.

I honestly thought we were going to have to reschedule but realized quickly that there is none of that with models like the Australian Chrystal, who came from a Vogue Russia cover shoot the day before (which is why we could not have the shoot on that beautiful sunny Sunday, the day of this post), and photographers like Mark, who jetted off to LA just days after the shoot for other business. Nope, the shoot went on with large white tents, plenty of ponchos and at least a dozen umbrellas to shield the weather. However, the rain showers caused the day to take much longer than usual because we had to seek refuge inside every time the showers were really bad (which happened a few times), hence the reason I didn't get home until 1130 PM that night (645 AM-1130 PM was definitely a record for my longest work day ever). Yet, the day still went by quickly and it was so fun!

I helped prepare the looks, dressed the models, took pictures of reference for credit sheets, met Mark Seliger's studio staff, ate delicious catered food and soaked up everything (especially rain, haha) that I could about my first (and surely not last) Vogue photo shoot. And of course, I took tons of pics and must say that overall the shoot was a great success!  =)

Part of the yummy catered breakfast food..those apple rings with peanut butter and oats were mouth-watering!

Spreading out accessories for any quick changes to looks

Photographer Mark Seliger...he was really nice and funny (he even called my boss out once for how much she as asking me to do all at once which gave everybody a good laugh)

Scrumptious catered lunch...pasta, Caesar salad, prosciutto, melons, fresh veggies, baked chicken and more!
Hanging out with model Lina while waiting to go down for the next shot.

Couldn't resist trying these babies on.

Lina and Chrystal staying warm as they wait for more shots.

Shots with the models and hair assistant, whom I must say was very dedicated and had a sweet personality!

The issue doesn't run for a couple of months but I will make sure to post all of the images as soon as they are published. Be on the look out for that! Thanks for taking this journey with me! I am still interning with the stylist and wrapping up with this photo shoot but I think this is a good place to end this series until the editorial runs. It has been fun, rewarding and motivating. So excited for my future and the many more fashion endeavors in store.

Jeepers Creepers!

These shoes are slyly making their way onto the fashion scene. I noticed them in London's Camden Market last year and honestly thought, "What the...?" and figured I'd leave that one to the goth scene. However, now that I've seen more tame versions, considering the shorter height than the other VERY thick heels that I've seen on other pairs, I feel like I could definitely give these shoes a try. They are functional and look very comfortable. Not to mention I love the way they can be paired with a chic skirt (like the picture below) or dress and still work beautifully. Ahhh, the joys of fashion.

Are you daring enough to give them a try? Don't be scared! They're just creepers!
